Celeste and Robert White to Receive Salvation Army’s Nehemiah Award at Napa Valley Gala

Aug 11, 2025

The Salvation Army is honored to announce that longtime philanthropists Celeste White and her husband, Dr. Robert White, will be presented with the Nehemiah Award at the upcoming Salvation Army Out of the Fire Gala Fundraiser on August 14 at 5:30 p.m., at Raymond Vineyards, hosted by vintner Jean-Charles Boisset.

The Nehemiah Award is one of The Salvation Army Napa’s highest recognitions, celebrating individuals who embody the spirit of community restoration, servant leadership, and faithful action. The Whites are being recognized for their lifelong dedication to uplifting communities through faith-based, healthcare, and educational initiatives.

Celeste, a St. Helena resident, and Dr. Robert White, a trauma surgeon with the Providence Health System, have made lasting impacts throughout Napa Valley and beyond. Their notable contributions include championing the Salvation Army’s Culinary Training Program, which provides job skills and life-changing opportunities for those overcoming addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. They also led the restoration of the historic Yountville Community Church, Napa Valley’s oldest church.

“Celeste and Robert White embody compassionate commitment that transforms lives,” said Lieutenants Joshua and Jillian Kistan of The Salvation Army of Napa. “Their support has expanded opportunity, preserved local heritage, and strengthened wellness across our region.”

Beyond their work with The Salvation Army, Celeste serves as President of Lux Forum, a nonprofit fostering dialogue at the crossroads of faith and civic life and is a Board Trustee at Westmont College in Santa Barbara.

The August 14th gala will unite community leaders and supporters to celebrate the Whites’ contributions and raise vital funds for The Salvation Army Napa’s local programs.
